What To Expect?

The Worker Share is for those of you that can tolerate physically demanding work; expect to get dirty.  If you want to learn and understand more about where and how your food is grown with hands on experience, this would be a great opportunity for you.  It is an earnest commitment to work a weekly shift on the farm in exchange for a Standard weekly vegetable share.  At Forest Run Farm, our Worker Share members are a major factor in our overall farm productivity and also have the opportunity to receive additional quantities of produce for freezing or canning if available.

Our standard Worker Share member commits to 4 hours/week of farm work for 18 weeks during the 20 week season of share deliveries. Scheduled shifts will begin the week of May 31, 2010.  If a shift is missed, due to illness or the unexpected, an additional week will be added to the end of your schedule.  You will commit to a specific shift for the entire season. All worker shares must attend the worker orientation; Sunday May 23 at 6pm.

Standard Worker Shifts beginning May 31
Tuesday 9a.m.-1 p.m.  or 1-5 p.m
Wednesday 8-12 a.m. or 12-4 p.m.
Hybrid Worker Shift beginning May 24
Monday 5-8 p.m.

The Hybrid shift is a Worker Share using a combination of work for 12 weeks and payment of $255 in exchange for a Standard Share. If the Hybrid shift does not fit with your schedule contact us about Flexible Shifts, great for teachers or others who have less than 18 weeks to commit to working on the farm.

How do I sign up for a working share?

To sign up for a working share, contact us with your interest, availability and experiences that will demonstrate your ability to help Forest Run Farm. We will contact you within a couple of days to schedule a time for you to come to the farm for an interview. All Working Share Members must be at least 18 years of age and are subject to our acceptance.
