What Do We Offer To You?

Forest Run Farm offers CSA shares, or memberships, that begin in June with salad mixings and continue for 20 weeks. Each weekly box will contain an assortment of freshly picked produce. The type and quantity of vegetables will depend on the time in the season. Some varieties will be offered over several weeks, while some specialty items may only be offered once. Our shares come in 2 sizes: Standard, which is adequate for most families and comes delivered in a 5/9 bushel-sized box, and Small, which is all the same vegetables as the standard share but about 2/3 the quantity. Sometimes, during the peak summer season, the standard share spills over the top of the box. For this reason some families decide to divide the standard share with another family.

We also offer Worker shares; in exchange for your commitment to work on the farm you will receive a reduced rate on your membership. You will earn an entire Standard weekly vegetable share with a commitment of 4 hours per week for 18 weeks. With a working membership you will see first hand how your food is grown and have the opportunity to receive additional fresh produce when available. You will work along side the farmer in all kinds of weather to meet the production and harvest needs of the farm. Worker share memberships are limited and are only accepted from qualified persons so contact us for more information and availability.

We will have 3 pick up options for 2010: In DeForest, in Waunakee or at the farm. Members are asked to bring their own reusable tote or cooler to their pick up site and repack their share from the farm container.

In addition to providing you with fresh vegetables for your table, a weekly newsletter features storage tips, recipes, and information about your farm. We also have member days where you are invited out to your farm and you can really get to know your farmer. These days may be a pot luck gathering or an event where you can learn how to preserve your produce. You are always welcome to come out to the farm and see first-hand how your food is grown following organic practices. We only use natural substances, which in the long term will benefit the environment. After 3 years of following the National Organic Program we will be prepared for certification which is scheduled for our 2011 season.

We sell fresh eggs from our small flock of layers and we raise day range roasting chickens. Our egg share is available through a Hen Adoption Program. You can receive your share one dozen at a time every other week (EOW) or every week (EW) for 20 weeks. You will receive a Certificate of Adoption complete with your hen's chosen name. The roasting chickens will be available around early July. Egg shares are available with any Forest Run Farm CSA share. Order forms are available for chickens upon request.
