Welcome To Our Farm

Forest Run Farm grows a wide selection of produce in harmony with nature. Produce is available to consumers through our Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) membership farm and farmers markets. Although we are not certified organic we are following organic practices and maintaining good land stewardship through sustainable agriculture. Our CSA is a partnership between the local people and the farmer; it provides a means to distribute locally grown fresh food through the community without the synthetic additives or the middle man. When you purchase a CSA share you become a member of Forest Run Farm; you will be providing an economic benefit for the farmer, receive information about your food and how it's grown, and share the freshly picked bountiful harvest. Most importantly, you'll have the opportunity to get to know your farmer. We deliver CSA shares to pickup sites in DeForest and Waunakee. We also service local Farmer's Markets and distribute produce to local food pantries. In addition to providing fresh produce, we offer egg shares from our cage free hens and day range roasting chickens.

About Us

We purchased our farm in 1993. The land had been farmed conventionally for decades and the two barns had been used to raise feeder pigs. In the early years of our ownership, we started gardening for family and friends. We added some wild areas on the edges of the fields and planted grapes, cherry bushes, fruit trees, asparagus and raspberries. We even raised hogs, at one point having 60 in the barn. In 1999 and 2000, we used the Membership garden model and provided produce for thirteen families. We did all that while still working our full time jobs off the farm to provide our main source of income.

After a 5 year hiatus from gardening, during which time we made some improvements to the property, we decided to focus on market vegetables. In 2006, we established Forest Run Farm, a farm to produce ecological friendly vegetables following organic practices and distribute them locally through CSA shares. Because our main source of income comes from our off farm jobs which takes us away from the fields, working members become an integral part of our farm. If you are interested in knowing more about how your food in grown, you could become a working member and reduce the cost of your CSA share. With the increased awareness and desire of today’s consumer to eat healthy, we plan to expand our production just far enough to be able to make a living off the land.
